What Does Optimism Have to Do with Cooking?
EVERYTHING!

Cooking with Optimism is built on a simple, radical belief:
The ability to cook isn’t something you’re born with, or without — it’s a skill you can learn.

I believe:

  • If you can read, you can follow a recipe.

  • If you can follow a recipe, you can cook.

  • Confidence comes from doing, not watching.

  • The kitchen should feel welcoming, not intimidating.

Cooking with Optimism exists to take the fear, pressure, and perfectionism out of cooking — and to replace it with confidence, curiosity, and connection.

This isn’t about being fussy (though we can teach you some of that too, if that interests you!) .
It’s not about being fast.
It’s not about getting it “right.”

It’s about learning by doing, together.

When you cook with me, you’re not being judged or rushed. You’re being supported. I’m right there beside you — I’ll answer your questions as they come up, help you adjust when something feels off, and explain why we’re doing what we’re doing. I won't just tell you what to do and walk away. That's no way to learn.

There are no stupid questions here. There are no mistakes — only opportunities to learn. And there’s no pressure to “already know” anything.

Cooking with Optimism is for adults and young adults who want to:

  • Feel capable in the kitchen

  • Learn practical, repeatable cooking skills

  • Build confidence one recipe at a time

  • Replace kitchen anxiety with “I’ve got this”

At its heart, Cooking with Optimism is about more than food.  It’s about building self-confidence. It’s about independence. It’s about discovering that you are far more capable than you ever imagined — and that learning can be joyful and hands-on, and is a lot of fun done in community with other learners.

My goal is to help you trust yourself in the kitchen — to leave knowing you can make delicious food, feed yourself and others, and actually enjoy the process.

So let’s get together in the kitchen. Let’s cook. I’ll be at your side the whole way. And we’ll build confidence — one recipe at a time.
